Lucian Dunn is a supervising chef at Uncorked restaurant in Kingston, Jamaica.
It all started in his mother’s kitchen when he fried his first piece of chicken at the age of ten. He had watched his mom and helped with food preparation for years, but this was his first solo experience. He served the fried chicken to the youths outside playing football and they all loved it. Because of the feeling of pride and gratification that it gave him, Lucian Dunn knew from hat moment that not only did he want to be a chef, but the greatest chef in world.
After finishing high school, Lucian was accepted into the HEART College of Hospitality where he began to pursue his culinary career, working hard to become an accomplished student. Taking advantage of every opportunity earned him roles such as president of the Culinary Club, the Learner Counsel of his class, vice president of the “I Believe Club” and multiple leadership awards before ending with certification in NVQJ level 2. After graduating from HEART in 2014, Dunn became a supervisor in his first job at Tea Tree Creperie in Montego Bay. He went on to gain experience as a chef in Kingston and Montego Bay restaurants.
In 2016, Dunn was invited to enter the Chef on the Rise competition sponsored by the Observer and Yellow Pages. Although the youngest contestant among the island’s leading young chefs, his well-presented, creative and flavourful dishes placed in the top three. Soon after the competition, Chef Dunn joined Uncorked in Kingston where he continues work. He and the team develop and execute the regular menu and also specialty items that have become popular signature dishes.
