Tea Tree Crêperie
What do you have when you combine a party promoter/marketer/website designer genius, a former diplomat and European based cuisine? Why none other than Jamaica’s first crêperie which has already become famous for their crepes and other delectables. Previously housed at the enclave called 8 Hillcrest, it now has a larger and more airy new location at 80 LMR on Lady Musgrave Road.
Recommendations: Creamosa (Italian soda + cream), Carrot Cake, The Blue Crêpe (beef tenderloin [medium rare is my preference], mushrooms, pepper jelly, aged cheddar cheese & blue cheese), Magic Mint Lemonade, Jumbo Pavlova, Banana Cream Pie Crêpe, Smoked Marlin Crêpe, Crêpe Suzette, Toblerone brownie
N.B. One cannot go to Greek establishment and not break dishes! This is a must do! Opa!
Recommendations: Octopodi (the best grilled octopus I have ever had in Jamaica made with simple quality ingredients), Moussaka, Avgolemono (a Greek soup comprising of eggs, chicken & lemon), Kotsi (lamb shank), Pita Bread & Tzatziki, Gyro Greekwich, Poseidon (Shrimp/Salmon pasta in a minty cream sauce & pistachios), Feta Saganati (feta cheese with honey & sesame seeds), Greek Pizza w/ jumbo shrimp
Roe Japanese Cuisine & Tea House
It is impressive that the local produce is seamlessly integrated into the menu items and the tastes balance beautifully in menu offerings such as the “Dis-Wi-Du-Me” roll that combines mango & shrimp and the Tessanne Chin influenced “Bread and Butta” roll which contains breadfruit & tomato chutney from Beclour Lodge (a boutique local jam/honey/preserves company based in the Blue Mountains). This is a must go for any sushi and Japanese food lover.
Recommendations: Chan Pon (Ramen noodle soup with Qushuu chicken, shrimp & vegetables), Dis-Wi-Du-Me roll, Olympic Gold sushi platter (ask for uni [sea urchin], scallop or tuna toro if available), Aloha roll (jerk pork, cream cheese, bacon & pineapple), Una/Katsu Don, Hiyayakko (stacked tofu & avocado tower in citrus soy sauce), Shrimp Wrap (shrimp & vegetables wrapped in rice paper roll), Crispy Tuna Roll, Matcha Green Tea Frappachino, Coconut Pouchong Tea cocktail (served in a chic fish bowl martini glass)
STAY TUNED FOR PART 2!
