Jamaican Tamarind Balls

A natural snack, Jamaican Tamarind Balls are a mix of sweet and tangy and offer up a welcomed treat for the young and young at heart alike.

Here’s how you can make it yourself in the comfort of your own home.

PREP TIME:

DIFFICULTY: Easy

YIELD: 8 Servings (per potato)

Ingredients

  • 1 lb tamarind ,shelled
  • 1 /2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper 
  • 1 tbsp rum

Directions

  • Place the Tamarind in a bowl with 1/2 cup granulated sugar , brown sugar,cayenne,and rum, mix together for a dough.
  • Divide tamarind dough into 30 pieces. Roll each piece into a ball.
  • Roll each ball into the reserve granulated sugar. Store Tamarind balls in a clean glass jar.
