Chef Noel Cunningham is a certified Chef de Partie & one of Jamaica’s young chefs on the rise. Chef Cunny as he is otherwise known discovered his love for the culinary arts during the time spent assisting his mother and Aunt Meriam Baker, who is a professional chef, to prepare family meals on Sundays & during the holidays. The Jamaican-born chef recalls that the first dish his mother taught him to prepare as rice and peas and her signature barbeque chicken. From that experience, he wanted to learn more and subsequently, he started experimenting.
Chef Cunningham attended the Edith Dalton James High school where he majored in Food and Nutrition which included Home Economics Management. He graduated top of his class and was ultimately the recipient of the school’s top performer award for Food & Nutrition on two occasions. After graduating from high school in 2007 at the age of 17 years, he developed a full-fledged passion for good food and knew, undoubtedly, that he wanted to pursue studies in culinary arts which he did at the Runaway Bay Heart Hotel & Training Institute.
In pursuit of career advancement, he has worked as Head Chef/Restaurant Manager at the popular Café Mantra in Kingston, Jamaica. Chef Cunnigham has been featured in the Jamaica Gleaner, the Jamaica Observer, and the Jamaican Magazine. He was also featured twice on CVM TV’s popular Caribbean cooking show, ‘Vibes Cuisine’, and Television Jamaica’s Award-winning and cutting edge entertainment programmes, ‘Entertainment’ Report and ‘Intense’
He is currently working on launching his very own catering company “Cuisine by Noel”
