Vege Ackee

Ackee is a part of the national dish here in Jamaica and is often prepared in a variety of ways. This vegetarian take is both a Quick Fix and Inspired Eat.

Here’s how you can make it yourself in the comfort of your own home.

PREP TIME: 10 minutes


YIELD: 2 Servings


  • 1 tin of ackee
  • 1 onion
  • 2 sprigs of spring onion
  • 1 medium tomato
  • 2 table spoons of oil
  • ¼ of red pepper
  • ¼ of green pepper
  • 1 ring of scotch bonnet pepper
  • 1 tea spoon of black pepper
  • 1 tea spoon of salt


  • In a sauce pan add oil, onion, spring onion, red pepper, green pepper, tomato and scotch bonnet pepper and sauté for 2 min. 
  • Then add ackee and season with salt and black pepper. 
  • Simmer for 2 min and serve.

Serve and enjoy!
